The last thing busy parents of complex kids have time for is taking classes, reading books, doing research. What they want most is help for their child, some semblance of peace, calm, normal life.

For the past 15 years, I have been studying, researching, and writing about complex kids—kids who are not following in step with their “normy” peers and siblings. I have one of my own and I’ve spent years working with these kids using various modalities, including transforming touch, somatic experiencing, and the safe and sound protocol.

My aim is to put together relevant bits and pieces in digestible chunks for busy parents who might have a few moments to glean a deeper understanding of what their child may be experiencing and how to help them.

A child inexplicably acting out, suffering, tantruming, not living their best life can be heartbreaking, frustrating, and devastating for parents. Understanding trauma and nervous-system regulation is key.

And remember, there is hope.
